Like his billionaire brothers Dirk and Daniel, Robert Ziff owes his fortune to his grandfather's publishing company, Ziff Davis. The brothers' late father, William Jr., built up Ziff Davis, publisher of PC Magazine and Car and Driver, and sold the company for $1.4 billion in 1994. The brothers created Ziff Brothers Investments and grew their inheritance with hedge funds in the U.S. and in London. Ziff Brothers Investments ceased operations in 2014; the brothers are reportedly investing with former employees of their hedge funds.
