Nicole Shanahan is an attorney and entrepreneur who was married to Google cofounder Sergey Brin from 2018 to 2023. Shanahan burst onto the national stage when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. picked her as his vice president during his 2024 presidential campaign. Shanahan grew up in a family that relied on food stamps, and her career as a lawyer has largely been in Silicon Valley startups and nonprofits. She owns much of her fortune to the estimated 5.3 million Google shares she got in her divorce from Brin. She has donated a chunk of the stock to the nonprofit she heads, called the Bia-Echo Foundation, which provides grants in the areas of "longevity and equality, criminal justice reform and a healthy and livable planet."
