After making a fortune in scrap steel during the 1990s, Lin Xiucheng shifted into the light-emitting diode (LED) business. He injected his LED business into a Shanghai-listed firm in exchange for a majority stake and changed its name to Sanan Optoelectronics in 2008. Lin shares majority ownership of his main holding company, Fujian Sanan Group, with son Lin Zhiqiang.
