About Me

Dan Calugar is a private investor based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Calugar worked as a tax lawyer in Atlanta the late 1970s and 1980s before switching to investing in mutual funds. He has invested using data-driven strategies across mutual funds, stocks, hedge funds, structured fixed income, volatility and managed futures. He now primarily invests in an externally managed energy strategy and an in-house algorithmic stock trading program he developed internally. In 2003, he settled alleged charges of fraud through improper late trading and market timing with the SEC for $225 million. He did not admit or deny the charges.
