Byron D. Trott is chairman and co-CEO of merchant bank BDT & MSD Partners. Trott merged his company BDT & Co. with Michael Dell's family investment firm MSD Partners in 2023. He started BDT in 2009 after nearly 30 years at Goldman Sachs, where he began as stockbroker and eventually rose to become vice chairman of investment banking. Trott's closely held BDT has provided advice and capital to family and founder-led companies including ones owned by such billionaires as Dennis Washington and Shahid Khan. Trott serves on the board of trustees at his alma mater, the University of Chicago.
