Mathieson is now a minority shareholder in the listed Endeavour Group, which holds both the Australian Liquor assets and Woolworth's extensive liquor retailing business. In a board shakeup in 2024, Endeavour's chairman resigned as well as Mathieson's son, Bruce Mathieson Jr., who had a board seat. He has a fondness for racehorses and part-owned a horse that ran in the Melbourne Cup. He is battling a rare form of blood cancer.
